The rain made way for a gorgeous engagement session at the Mequon Nature Preserve in Mequon.
Nick knew of Kim for two or three years before they started dating. Their families were involved in their local 4-H and county fair, where they both showed pigs. She initiated the conversation, and after a couple months of talking, they decided to go out on a “date” in December of 2012. Since Nick was the only one with a license at time, he drove up to Cedar Grove to watch a basketball game with her and hangout with some of her friends.
A few weeks later he asked her to be his girlfriend and they’ve been together ever since. They found that talking was so easy, that they have so much in common, and over time, they’ve grown more and more in love.
Nick graduated from Cedarburg High School in 2014 and attended to UW-Stevens Point. Kim graduated from high school the following year and also made the decision to go to Point.
Nick proposed at the Ozaukee County Fair, because that’s where they met! He wanted it to be somewhat private but he also wanted to share their joy with both of their families. Luckily, her family brings their camper to the fair every year. So on the Friday night of fair, Nick mentioned that they needed to go to the camper to get something. Their families knew it was happening, and followed them at a distance.
Some of their closest friends and family had set up flowers, candles, and pictures of them in the camper and patiently hid in the camper. When they entered in, he popped the question! As soon as she said yes, their loved ones popped out, cheering their congratulations! When they exited the camper, the everyone else surprised them with champagne and cupcakes.
August 10th of 2019 will be a beautiful day. They’ll say, “I do” to the love of their life in the St. Nicholas Church in Dacada. They’ll celebrate with dinner, drinks, & dancing at Buechler Farms in Belgium. We can’t wait! We hope there’s champagne and cupcakes there, too! <3 ;)
As for their future dreams, they hope to stay in the area. Their families continue to grow and grow each year with more and more weddings and babies being born! They both hold family very close to their hearts and couldn’t imagine moving too far. They’re so excited to start their own family someday!
We are SO happy for you both! We can’t wait to celebrate alongside you next year as you share your wedding vows, and I know I’ll be crying quietly behind my camera! <3
We wish you all the best! Congratulations!
